Hello again!
I think I'll call this one: Bunnies in Trees. Isn't it cute?
Today's bento is a bowlful of bunnies - complete with broccoli trees (or are they bushes?). The rabbits are remarkably easy to make - just slice a chunk of hotdog longways, and cut a V out of one end. Hmmm.. maybe I should post a picture tutorial. What do you think?
This bento started with a mashed potato base - made in a flash with the microwave steamer. Yummy!
The sandy ground is a thin layer of breadcrumbs, the sun is part of an apple, and the bunnies are hotdogs and the greenery are broccoli. Yum!
Thank heavens for my microwave steamer - it allowed me to make this lunch in 10 mins flat (cook time included!) since everything (well, aside from the apple) was cooked at the same time. So convienent! All I had to do was cut up the hotdogs beforehand, pull the broccoli out of the freezer, cube the potatoes, throw it all on the steamer tray and microwave the sucker for 6 minutes. Then I mashed up the potato and arranged the adorableness. ^_^
Seriously. If you make bento lunches on anything concievably considered a regular basis - get yourself a microwave steamer and a rice cooker and you'll be all set. ^_^
Best Dishes to you,
