Counting Sheep

The sheep in this lunch turned out downright adorable, didn't they?  Who knew cauliflower and hot dogs teamed up so well?  Tastylicious.

And that's all the sheep are - cauliflower and the end of a hotdog.  So simple, and so much fun!  How can any picky eater say that's not appealing?

Once again, I have made liberal use of hot dog flowers, this time laying them in a field of celery strips and a delicious nut blend - soy nuts, almonds, and sunflower seeds.  The delicious center of each flower is a very nutritious and delightfully sweet dried cherry.

More after the jump!

Under the (blue-tinted via food coloring) sprawling rice sky and pastoral scene, there's a hidden surprise: not only the extra cut up hot dogs and cauliflower, but also some kalamata olives and feta cheese.  Mmmmm!

Not only that - but this is some very special feta.  This feta comes from the Fulton Street Farmer's Market in Grand Rapids MI.  This goat cheese comes from organically raised goats, raised on a family farm just outside of our city.  I'll have to remember my camera battery the next time I go so I can post photos of the vendors I purchase from.  Sorry!

My husband rates this lunch as a 5-star for cuteness, but it was a bit much for him to consume all by himself.  Thankfully I was on hand to polish off the bowl!

Best Dishes to you,
